Welcome Happy Campers!
On behalf of the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, thank you for your interest in attending one of our amazing summer camps! Girl Scout programs and camps are the highest quality, thanks to our excellent facilities and dedicated staff. At resident camp, you will challenge yourself both mentally and physically as you build courage, confidence, and character with girls who have the same interests as you! If you have never been to summer camp, and want to try the camping experience, we suggest you try Camp Lakamaga, or troop/group camping. You can also check out some of the day camp programs led by volunteers. If you are an older girl and looking for some exciting overnight adventures, horse camp or trips out-of-camp, we suggest you check out Camp Northwoods!
Questions? Please feel free to contact the camp directors with any questions by calling the council office at 651-227-8835, 800-845-0787, or e-mailing camps@girlscoutsrv.org.
Why Girl Scout Resident Camp?
We know that families have many options on how to best spend their time and money. Making decisions on how to use these resources to support your camper can be a challenge. Girl Scout resident camp is an excellent and affordable choice that promotes positive youth development.
Sending your daughter, or any girl you care about, to resident camp is one of the most positive choices in supporting her personal development! Did you know that there is strong, scientific research that suggests when girls attend camp they:
- become more confident and increase self-esteem
- develop personal and social skills to make new friends and try new things
- build courage and character to become more independent and adventurous
- demonstrate leadership qualities
- become more adventurous and willing to try new things
At Girl Scout camp we use activities and group living in a natural outdoor environment to create a community that nurtures girls. Our campers interact with positive role models who take the time to listen, talk, relax, and reflect with the girls. In our supportive environment, girls learn to work together, make choices, take responsibility, develop creative skills, build independence and self-reliance, and gain confidence—all while having fun!
Girls who are not currently Girl Scouts are welcome to register for camp sessions. Financial assistance is available to all registered girls.
Grants for Girls
We want all girls to be able to access the important benefits that they receive from participating in our camp programs. For some families the cost of camp can seem prohibitive. In order to make camp available for all girls, we offer the Grants for Girls program.
If a family has a financial need, we encourage the family to use the grants program. Please see the back of the registration form for more information.
Additionally, we encourage families able to make a gift to support this terrific program that allows girls from all backgrounds to attend camp each summer. Last summer, 300 campers received a grant to attend camp.
