Equipment

We have lots of sports equipment for troops and groups to use throughout the year. Need a field hockey set, basketballs, soccer balls, tennis racquets or another sports equipment? Most equipment is available for pickup at the In-Town Program Center, however, some is also available at Rolling Ridges and Lakamaga. Equipment can be checked out for one week.

Reserve equipment by filling out Sports Equipment Check-Out Form or contact the program department at 651-227-8835 or e-mail girlscouts@girlscoutscv.org.

Game Ideas

Need to know what to do with the equipment? Print off a copy of our Sports Sampler which will give you ideas for warm-up games, team-building exercises, and basic rules. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader (a free utility you can get from Adobe.)

New Sports Kits Available

GSUSA has developed a new sports program that emphasizes basic sports skills for girls ages 5-8. There are 10 skills highlighted, including underhand throwing, dribbling, volleying, and kicking. Each kit focuses on one skill and includes activity cards with games that will teach the skills. The kit also provides information on how to set up the games, what equipment you'll need, and helpful hints on teaching the activities. Not a leader who has much experience with or interest in sports? That doesn't mean the girls can't explore them. The kits are user-friendly for all of the adults who want to bring sports and fitness to their Brownie Girl Scouts. The council can provide you with the equipment needed for each kit. Use the kits at troop/group meetings, service unit events, and/or encampments! Using these kits also helps fulfill requirements of the GirlSports try-it from the new Brownie Girl Scout Handbook.

If you and your Girl Scouts are interested in these kits but would like more guidance, contact the program department at 651-227-8835 or girlscouts@girlscoutscv.org. Kits are available for pick-up at the In-Town Center. With advance notice, we can also make arrangements for pick-up at another council site or through your MDD.
