BECOME A GIRL SCOUT VOLUNTEER

flowers

Our volunteers are women and men from diverse backgrounds, professions, and interests—you don't need a Girl Scout background or even a girl in your family to join. We welcome all adults who support our mission and accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law. All volunteers are asked to follow both the National Girl Scout Policies and our council's Volunteer Policies, Practices, and Standards.

The Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley provides training and ongoing support for all volunteers, and flexible positions are available to suit every schedule and interest. In addition to offering the following opportunities, we design "customized" volunteer positions as needed.

Troop Leaders/Co-Leaders/Group Coordinators work directly with girls on an ongoing basis, and help them to plan and implement a wide range of program activities. Girl Scouts is strongly committed to the practice of pluralism, as well as actively encourages participation from all girls who are interested in becoming a Girl Scout. The council staff and volunteers work diligently on building bridges to communities where there has not been a tradition of Girl Scouting.  One area of outreach to girl includes several multicultural groups for girls aged 11 – 17.  These multicultural Girl Scout groups provide culturally-specific opportunities for girls to experience all aspects of Girl Scouting, such as building confidence, courage, and self-esteem, developing personal and leadership development, and participating in community service projects that improve the lives and environment around us.

Event Coordinators work with other adults to plan and implement a one-time special event around their skills and interests.

Membership Recruiters recruit and organize troops/groups of girls and adult volunteers within their community.

Girl Scout Cookie Sale Coordinators facilitate "behind the scenes" aspects of the annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale.

Fund Development Volunteers partner with other adults to help raise funds for Girl Scouting through a wide range of development activities.

Council Trainers lead volunteer training sessions in Girl Scout program and in special interest areas such as outdoor skills, first aid/CPR, crafts, and math and science.

Day Camp Directors work with other adults to plan and direct a summer day camp for girls.

Board Members/Board Committee Members share their experience and expertise in a wide range of areas including strategic planning, finance, marketing/ communications, etc.

Want to work with girls but can't lead a troop?

Can you find 4-12 hours per year plus a few hours for training to help girls grow strong? In just that much time, you can make a big difference in our effort to expand program options, keep costs down for girls, and have activities at more sites throughout the council.

The Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley is seeking volunteers who can lead educational sessions for girls. Here's the extent of the commitment: attend volunteer training, then lead 2-3 program sessions per school year in different areas of the council. (The program sessions last from 2-4 hours each depending on the program.)

This is a perfect opportunity to spend some time with girls and share your knowledge and skills. It's also a great way to support Girl Scouts if you're not able to commit to being a troop leader. Check out the following volunteer positions:
